The Outside School Hours Care program at Emmanuel College provides time for homework, time to relax, educational activities and a healthy snack. Best of all, our program makes time for kids to be kids - to play and explore, share with friends and enjoy these precious school years.
Emmanuel's Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) is run by Young Discoverers who are a locally owned, not for profit division of CrossLife Church. Their aim is to provide the highest quality, family orientated child care by nurturing children in an environment of Christian love and care.
The OSHC program is an extension of Emmanuel College, providing children with a safe environment in which they can explore and play. Children can only attend OSHC once they have been officially enrolled (this applies to morning or afternoon sessions as well as the holiday programs).

Care and Culture
CARE
We put the care and protection of children first
We are flexible to the needs of families – including with how we manage bookings
We believe that caring for children includes caring for their families and as such we are here to support them in their parenting journey in any way we can.
CULTURE
- Our culture and ethos align very closely with Emmanuel College. As a Christian service provider we will talk about God, as appropriate, from a Christian perspective. We also understand that different families have different beliefs and ensure our Christianity is expressed in a loving and inclusive way.
- Our practice is guided by our mission statement “We are committed to provide the highest quality, family oriented Childcare by nurturing children in an environment of Christian love and care” and our values statement “Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes and always perseveres” (1 Corinthians 13:7)
- We have proven longevity of staffing due to how we treat our staff and how we expect our staff to treat each other.
Resources
- As a not for profit service we have a very healthy resource budget that ensures our resources remain current to the children’s interests, in good condition and plentiful for the number of children in our care
- We value sustainable practice and focus on teaching children how to keep resources in good condition
- We follow children’s interests and purchase with interests at the forefront.
Menus and Program
MENUS
We pride ourselves in providing a nutritious afternoon tea and breakfast that appeals to the variety of tastes within the group
We menu plan with input from children and families
PROGRAM
- Educators are given generous programming time to ensure they provide a well thought out program
- Children’s interests are observed and their input is sought as part of the programming process
- We use ‘My Time Our Place’ and the ‘Early Years Learning Framework’ curriculum frameworks as the foundation to the program
- Homework will be encouraged for a designated period and a quiet area set up for children to use. Please note, homework is not forced- just encouraged
- Vacation care programs are written with input from children and families. Local excursions, incursions, theme days and access to our very own jumping castle are just some of the vacation care activities we will provide.
